For you East Coast types, Monterey, CA is our version of Gloucester, MA. Long fishing history, a bit on the touristy side, but not a major tourist destination. John Steinbeck thought it was cool enough to write several books about, and there's a really nifty aquarium there too. Whale watching is fun there too, but when Michelle and I went there a couple of years ago all we got was a bit sea sick and but no whale-watchage.

This weekend, we took his Emminence down to see Monterrey.

He enjoyed checking out the "wild life" that hangs out on the pier. These guys bark a lot, and Emmitt like to imitate them in his own special way.

More wild life. These guys are pleeeentiful too. They are contracted to paint the pier and associated buildings white. They're really quite effective. Watch where you sit!

There are some old, historical buildings there too.

Artsy fartsy picture.

We found a big toy pirate ship to play on, and Emmitt thought it was a great idea to jump up and down on it. Looks like he's having a good time, doesn't he?

Before we left, we stopped and ate at Forrest and Bubba's place. I thought it would be a good idea to try and blend in. When in Rome, right? Like the shoes?
That last picture is so wrong. Shelf, you look great!
ReplyDeleteI think you are jonesin' for Boston. That place looks as close to Boston as possible for Cali.
ReplyDeleteLong time no see, hear, speak, etc. It took me a solid year before it didn't seem weird that I could pretty much count on a sunny day every day. We miss you guys.
